Joining Medium Partner Program from a Country like India.
Medium is a great platform to share stories.
You can follow like-minded individuals, read some fictional stories, and what not! It is truly a wonderful platform for writers.
The wonders don't stop there. Now, you can earn money while doing what you truly love, Writing!
It is almost a dream come true for many writers all across the globe. And via Medium’s partner program you can make it happen. The catch being, the paywall is not supported all across the globe.
Medium opened up the medium partner program in 2017, aiming to encourage more content creators to join the platform. They are currently paying out via a gateway called stripe.
The stripe platform supports only 39 countries and more 9 countries are on the way. You can check the list via this link.
If you are not from the supported countries like me, then worry not. There is a solution!!
So let's get to business.
There is a way into the Medium partner program.
Before we dive further, you need to ask yourself a question.
Do you have any relatives who live abroad in these stripes supported countries?
If the answer is yes, then it would just a phone call and you should be fine. Personally, I use this means.
If not, then I am not the right guy to ask this question.
So let’s discuss if the answer is yes.
You have a relative or a friend living in these stripe supported Countries
First of all, congrats. You have a good shot at joining the medium program.
Next, let’s make a quick phone call to the person whom you think will give out some personal details regarding the bank accounts, address, phone number, etc.
Disclaimer** Most of them are going to reject your bizarre request.
It is very necessary that this person is trustworthy and close enough to reveal personal details. For me, after several calls, it is one of my family members who agreed.
Before we go on to filling up details and start publishing take a step back. Analyze how this distribution of wealth happens.
You will only be paid after any medium subscriber spends time over your articles. The more the engagement from subscribers the more the profit. This is at a very high-level context.
The primary data like your name, email, and number should be yours. If you are an individual then it is fine to have a product description under your name. Else you can give your blog post or company website. It is generally advised to give relevant data that is similar to your content.
Next comes the tricky part where you would need very sensitive data. Hence would highly recommend that you ask your friend or relative to fill out the form.

Next, you will have to fill in tax details. Again, do not fill in by yourself and ask about what category of tax bracket does he/she falls in.
The rest of the information is self-explanatory and after a few clicks, you should be ready to go.
After joining the platform, I have got many suggestions like adding a virtual bank to my account but I still wouldn't recommend it. The reason being, adding third-party vendors to my account is unsafe. On top of that, I will lose a 10–20% payout cut as well.
If you are willing to let go of the secure payment gateway and a pay cut. You can surely opt for a virtual banking system.
Let’s give me a brief insight as well. As a beginner, the earnings would look like peanuts if ever it happens. Most of the stories you see doing are well-edited and have a good structure. These are very difficult to master as beginners.
Following and getting selected by a publication is a big plus. Having a well-thought document may lead to curators recognizing your article.
Hence, it becomes very important as a beginner to provide a nicely edited article. It should be engaging and provide some kind of value as a whole.
